Thursday, Thursday

Well, we arrived home yesterday and have been running ever since. Chris met us at the apartment, ran errands, dinner and then bed by 10. We were all beat.

I was helping with a breakfast this morning at the Church for CDC and MYC. We had to be there by 8:30 so I cooked HG's breakfast (sausage, eggs and strawberries) and she ate while we set up. However, she did not want to get up. At all. Once in class, she did well and participated in make up pictures since we missed on Tuesday. She had a great day today!! yea! She is out of school on Tuesday, bummer!! :)

While she was learning, I was participating in a wonderful breakfast full of wonderful moms. I met many that I did not know and visited with many that I did. We are looking forwards to a few pumpkin patches, play dates and the Halloween festival on the 3oth... If only I could slow down long enough to look at a calendar. OMG, I am worn out.

Chris hired his first person today!!! Super exciting news. he hired someone I worked with for many years and is an awesome employee. I trust him more than most I know. We are very lucky to have Patrick on our side and to have Dee (and the kids) supporting him. They have 3 red head kids so you know I am totally 100% in love with those kids.

While HG was at school, I ran to The Children's Place to see what all they have on sale. I heard about their incredible sale but I only walked out with $35 worth of damage. A few tights, tops, knee highs, and a farm dress (for riding horses), we were done.....Not to mention the clock was ticking close to 2. I'm always early for HG. ALWAYS. I'm very anal about it. VERY. After school, we went to Target. She dumped a bag of popcorn and blamed me. lovely, already? seriously? I didn't buy her much, just two sweats (one !2 and one 14.99- score!!) but they do have ADORABLE P coat's for $25. please and thank you, we'll be back.

HG ate early, Chris and I had a fest while watching our shows. Our meal was complete with jalapeno cheese rolls from Collin Street Bakery. Yum! We love going a few times a year. Clothes are washed, house is clean (somewhat) and I will start packing us in the morning. We're off to Texarkana!!!

Houston, Texas

We're home. Houston is growing on me. Maybe it is our amazing family there or maybe it is because it was perfect weather. Either way, I really enjoyed myBold time in Houston this week.

Uncle John Davis gave up his bed (and pretty much his entire apartment) for Hailey Grace and I. I think we gave him a quick view of how messy a place can get in a mere 5 minutes with children. And Kendall (his girlfriend) who Hailey Grace worships, allowed John Davis to stay at her place and also put up with us for days. Thank you, thank you, thank you so very much. We had a wonderful time and will be back in a few weeks.

A quick recap of our trip. On Monday, we hung out with JD, went to Target, a 24 hour awesome diner, played and then headed to my cousin, Emily's house. I love Emily. I love her entire family. I like to think my mom would be just like her if alive. They were best of friends and first cousins. I feel as if an empty void is filled when around her.s Oh wow, we had so much fun. David and JD hit it off on movies and I'm sure Kendall is thrilled to be watching long oldies. My cousin John is just an amazing man, working on his Psychology hours with the cutest son in the whole world. River and Hailey Grace hit it off and we can't wait to play again. We missed my cousin Jeff. Come home and visit soon Jeff! Emily gave me matches and a wedding invitation from my parent's wedding. how neat is that?? They were married in 1977 and they are in perfect condition. I was thrilled. Also, Emily and my mom wore the same wedding dress. The lace on there matches the lace on my wedding dress. how wild is that? My mom was working through other people to help me pick that out. Thank you, thank you, thank you for having us over and feeding us. We love you dearly!!!

Tuesday morning, HG and I headed to Port Neches to my Aunt Pam's house. For those of you who don't know where that is, it is about 3 miles north of the Port Arthur city limits. Gee Gee lived south of PA, almost in Sabine Pass city limits but has since moved to Port Neches with my Aunt. It had been years since traveling out there but the memories immediately came back. I loved visiting out there, always such happy memories. We played for hours, dined at Sartin's for the best BBQ crabs EVER and then headed back. Sartin's is a must each trip out that way. Oh how I have missed my dear family.

Tuesday late afternoon, we rushed back to get dinner going. Let me say that I know exactly what I am buying JD for Christmas!! Dinner turned out good and Uncle Mark and Miss Amanda came over to join us. Hailey Grace was so super excited to see them that she took off running for Uncle Mark as soon as she saw him. So super sweet!! Chris really wishes he could have been there with us to visit with JD/Kendall and Mark/Amanda. We wish they would move with us!!

Wednesday morning was Kratz's for lunch and then heading out. We were supposed to see Denise but Hailey Grace fell asleep and I just couldn't stop. So sorry Denise, I was really looking forward to it. With the car sickness, I take any extra peace and quiet I can. We'll be back really soon. My cousin is starting to play again so it might be as soon as October 21st!!!

My only regret is not pulling out my camera.. Ugh, I am getting terrible at that!!!!

A Cup of tea

A cute story that parents and grandparents can relate to.

One day my mother was out, and my dad was in charge of me.

I was maybe 2 1/2 years old. Someone had given me a little 'tea set' as a gift, and it was one of my favorite toys.

Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought him a little cup of 'tea', which was just water. After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my mom came home.

My dad made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a cup of tea, because it was 'just the cutest thing!' Mom waited, and sure enough, here I came down the hal l with a cup of tea for Daddy; and she watched him drink it up.

Then she said, (as only a mother would know), "'Did it ever occur to you that the only

place she can reach to get water, is the toilet?"

No words needed for this

A tail isn't a tail to them, it's just a little bit extra at the back.

Today was Uncle Gene's funeral. We left early, Hailey Grace threw up by Corsicana from motion sickness but finally made it shortly after noon. I was eager and scared about the funeral. My Uncle, who we always wanted to have a relationship with and never did (I did through emails, mail, FB and telephone the last 6-7 years) turned out to be an AMAZING man. The only mission in the Church he wasn't involved in was the nursery. Seriously, the nursery was the only one. He worked for GE for 34 years and then semi retired and went into consulting and part time for Grant Prideco. He was a Master Diver Instructor and went on 6 mission trips with his Church. The list could go on and on. I met cousins and family members that I never knew existed. John Davis already has a fishing trip planned. It must run strong through the Davis blood. For those of you who didn't know, my grandfather was THE electrician in Port Arthur. His real love, was for fishing and his squatters cabin in the Inter Costal Canal. Oh the fish he would bring home!! I remember it like it was just yesterday. We left the funeral very loved. So many people had wondered about us over the years and had no idea how to contact us. My Uncle's best friend for over 60 years, my real mom's high school best friend, Davis cousins from Gilmer and so on. Like I said, a warm fuzzy feeling and I am thrilled to remain in contact with everyone.

After the funeral and reception, we dined at Niko Niko's. I love Greek food and the huge Gyro with lamb and an amazing Greek salad, I needed to be rolled out. I will be visiting again, maybe tomorrow for lunch. Tonight has been low key, I was exhausted and JD/Kendall were as well. We all called it a night early and I am doing JD's laundry, big sisterly love. :)
Not sure what tomorrow has in store but dinner with my Cousins. Hopefully lunch with Uncle Mark too!! Then off to Port A on Tuesday for the day. I can't wait to spend some quality time with Gee Gee and Aunt Pam.

Hopefully, I'll take a bunch of pictures tomorrow!

Fall Festival

We woke up and asked HG what she wanted for lunch. Her reply was of course PIZZA. We arrived at pizza and she wanted a "chic burger". Probably should have gone for the chica burger but we were already out of the car.

Next up, Fall Festival. A lot of fun. Most of the excitement was last night and this morning but still lots of people and things to do. HG mainly hung out at the bounce house fro the little ones, snow cone stand (I only let her have the ice!), putt putt, food area, etc.

After FF, we ran by the Bells and Jim treated us to some KFC. Can't tell you the last time I had KFC but it was pretty darn good.

I beat.exhausted.restless because I am so sleepy. I just packed our backs. I have no idea what we are doing so I threw a bunch of stuff in there. I always over pack. always. Plus, I can't fit in any of my clothes because I like my food too much so I am limited. Maybe I'll lay off the food. We leave between 7-8, funeral is at 3. I'm almost nervous. Not sure why.
