Locks of Love

Well, I did it! Locks of Love is now one 11+ inch pony tail richer. Did you know that it takes between 6 -10 pony tails to make one wig. That is just amazing. The wigs are also made and donated to the the children (under 21) in need or on a smaller pay scale.
I was on a natural high after the MAJOR chop and knowing that some child will be wearing my hair. The wigs that Locks of Love create are really designed for long term hair loss or permanent loss. imagine loosing all your hear at 10 forever. Imagine the other kids talking and pointing. My heart goes out to those sweet and innocent children we are suffering.
My long pony tail in a shoe box waiting to be shipped. It doesn't look that long but the entire pony is about 11-12 inches.First couple pose with new hair

showing off the new hair

While it is all for a wonderful cause, I didn't have the best person cut my hair. Once it was chopped, she continued to cut 2 more inches shaping it up. By the time I said something, it was too late. It is hair right? It will grow. Hopefully grow fast. I don't think it has been this short since Kindergarten. Many people love it. I've gotten so many compliments on it as it IS a cute cut. Looks healthy, great volume and fullness. I'm just a shoulder length type of gal. Chris is a shoulder length type of guy too.

Happy Hump day

This week has been amazing. Even with the washer not working correctly and Hailey Grace fighting bad allergies, still amazing.
A few things we would like to share:
  • We switched Hailey Grace from Zyrtec to Donatussin. MAJOR improvement. I guess it turned into a small cold. Either way, it is working wonders and hopefully she'll be at school tomorrow. Lord knows Chris and I need her to go.
  • I've been trying to make the grocery store since Sunday. Only have two glasses of milk left. Tomorrow.
  • I did 4 miles on the gazelle last night and 4 tonight. It makes up for like a quarter of what I eat daily. Probably not today though. Ice cream, brownies, lots of cream of soup, cheese, Shepherd's pie for lunch, etc.
  • Grapefest is this weekend in Grapevine, Octoberfest in Addison. Can.not.wait. FAIR FOOD!!
  • Miss Priss ended up sleeping 14 hours last night. No nap today but went down at 7:45 tonight. I'm loving the early bed times. I think School helps.
  • Chris had a meeting with his boss today. Tulsa is still on the books but we're pushing forward with another location. Keep your fingers crossed for the other location. Mountains, snow, no humid weather and great skin hopefully in our future. :)
  • Drives me crazy that you might wear one size in a certain brand and other size in another brand. ugh, seriously show makers!
  • We have a babysitter tomorrow!! Score! We're pretty excited. She is super cute and I'm sure HG will love her.

Crock pot Chicken Spaghetti

I shared one of our favorite crock pot recipes recently on FB and it seems to be quite the hit. I'm so happy because it is super easy and always a crowd pleaser.
Crock pot Chicken Spaghetti
16 oz. dry spaghetti, cooked
1 lb. Velveeta Light cheese
3 chicken breast diced or 12 oz can of chicken breast
10 3/4 oz. can 98% fat free cream of mushroom soup
10 3/4 oz. can 98% fat free cream of chicken soup
10 oz. rotel
4 oz. can mushroom, drained
1/2 cup water1 small onion, diced
1 medium green pepper, diced
salt & pepper, to taste
Spray slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray.Combine all ingredients in slow cooker and stir to mix well.Cook on LOW for 2-3 hours
I promise you won't be disappointed.
Tonight is a simple dinner at our house, Chicken and Rice casserole with broccoli. Our oven makes our tiny apartment steamy so I used the slow cooker once again. I think everyone has their own touch to this kid pleaser but here is ours for the crock pot.
2 packages of boil in a bag rice
3-4 chicken breasts
1 can cream of mushroom
1 can cream of chicken
chicken broth (for the crock pot and to cook rice in)
broccoli (I buy steam able or fresh)
I tend to cook rice while mixing the cream of mushroom and chicken in the sprayed slow cooker. Add the chicken and rice once cooked and stir. I add a little chicken broth as needed for 2-3 hours. Cook broccoli and then add to dish during the last 30 minutes. This is the only way I can get Hailey Grace to eat broccoli so this is why we add it to the slow cooker.
Like I said, plain and simple but you almost always have the ingredients around the house.

Ramblings...

The chicken is in the slow cooker smelling good. The homemade brownies in the oven smelling even better. The glass of wine later is already calling my name.
Hailey Grace stayed home from school today due to a runny nose. Her allergies have been acting up (Chris is suffering too!) and they are pretty strict on the runny nose. Anything but clear or if it is a lot of clear, keep them home. This morning, it was green. Lovely. So hopefully Zyrtec will kick it pretty quickly.
I had previous been looking forward to a day by myself to grocery shop and get a hair cut. Whelp, with that out the window we made our own fun. Totally disarraying her room in a matter of minutes. Then dragging it into the living room. Turkey dogs, Animal Crackers and Mac n Chz for lunch per HG's request. Storage unit, HG napped, we fed the inlaws dogs and came home to cook. Now, once again we are destroying the house. I will never understand how one child can make such a mess. Serious mess.
Chris is off tomorrow and Thursday so we're excited. We also have a babysitter on Thursday evening so I'm excited. A super sweet girl is coming to play with Hailey Grace while we play. Can't wait!!!!
Pulling out fall decorations. Not much room so we'll have to make up for it next year.
Boxes are pure entertainment

I walk in the other room for less than 5 minutes. Room is a mess and she is naked!!

Decided she wanted to tee tee in the living room.

Totally random. Trash cans. They are smelly, dirty but an important part of every home. I empty mine daily. I lysol it out and use Colorox Green cleaner on it inside and out. It should remain clean right? Wrong. dead wrong. I scrubbed it with a tooth brush and Lysol mopping solution (a little obessive) on Sunday morning and was blown away by how clean it really is now. Stuff that I *thought * I was cleaning off was really caked on there. How on earth was I missing all of this? I mean I am pretty tidy. I think that will be added to our weekly or monthly chore list.

I heard from one of my dear friends yesterday, Megan, and I couldn't be happier. I am a terrible friend for not emailing earlier but I honestly lost track time...and all my numbers. She shares a birthday with Hailey Grace or I should say HG shares it with Megan so I thought about Megan all day that day. Megan, it was wonderful to get your email today!!
Well, the buzzer is buzzing on the brownies.. Hope there is some left for Chris when he arrives home from work. :)

Little Photographer

Hailey Grace decided she was going to take all the pictures last night. We all just laughed but she got a few cute ones of Terri, Justin and Kalli.

Kisses for Daddy

Our Sunday & Monday in a nut shell

  • Chris was off on Sunday. What a perfect day in our house!
  • Slept in (until 9 but hey, it is something)
  • Morning cartoons in bed
  • Late breakfast at lunch
  • Costco (LOVE LOVE LOVE)
  • Nap
  • Mass in Irving (found out ouf Church doesn't have Mass at 5 on Sundays)
  • Dinner with great friends
  • Fed the inlaws dogs after dinner
  • Early bed
  • CRAZY/STRANGE/LOUD noise at 1:59 am outside our window. Chris and I both jumped right up. I yelled at Chris to grab Hailey who immediately started crying out of fear. This noise was like a chain saw but much louder. We couldn't see anything out any of our windows so started to calm down. Then we see a few cars pull in and get out. We're guessing that maybe it was jet skiis? That is our best guess. It was really odd, close and scary. We kept Hailey in our bed as we didn't know what was going on. She is having allergy issues so tossed and turned all night while sounding like a bull dog.
  • 4:04am the buffalo whales above us got up. Seriously? That early? Luckily it didn't last long.
  • 7:00 Alarm went off Monday morning.......didn't I just fall asleep?
  • Play date this morning with a sweet friend, Nicolle and her adorable little boy, Boyd. We went to the McDonald's in Keller where they have a great play ground for the younger kids. We talked away while the kids played. There were quite a few kids there today of all ages. I loved chatting with Nicolle today!
  • Lunch with Leslie in Arlington Heights at Freebirds. Hailey was super good and ate really well. I love Freebirds and was excited when Leslie picked that spot. We hadn't seen her in a while but really enjoyed our short visit. We're already planning our next adventure to see her....and possibly set her up on a blind date. Hey, they work!
  • No trip to Freebirds is complete with out taking daddy lunch. The Monster on cayenne is the usual. Yum.
  • Hailey Grace and I went to feed/water/play Mike and Amber's dogs after stopping to see
Daddy. They were really excited to see people and enjoyed being fed sooner than later. Hailey Grace always enjoys giving them treats.
  • HG watched Dora in the car while I washed the pilot. Not sure why I thought that was a good idea. It is hot and humid today!
  • A stop to Target for Tide and Children's Zyrtec for Miss Priss and her allergies. Her MDO is extremely strict on runny noses which is good.
  • Now we are at home doing laundry, watching a movie and cooking dinner. Chris is working until 8.

Wow, that was a long post! As you can see, we have been bussy but having a lot of fun the past two days.
