We know that with my dad living on 3.2 acres, there are going to be snakes. The house was built around the 1930's and he redid it from top to bottom. The yard requires a little yard work each day and so he keeps the snake away on the ground. If you ever smell moth balls at his house, that is why. It smells terrible!!
In preparation of his birthday party, he and Auntie Collins had been laying mulch around the house. This was something that needed to be done and the party was the perfect motivation to finish it. One spot needed to be finished on Friday which was between the front porch and the back of the house. Saturday morning as he walked around looking and checking that it was all even, he found this snake skin. Lovely. A snake had shed it's skin over night so close to the door to the house (there are 3 doors on the front wrap around patio). Once again, the moth ball smell filled the air.
I'm sure they live under the house and come out quite often at night. Dad has cleared all the woods off his property recently so hopefully that will cut down on the number of snakes in the future. Not to mention the 3 labs roaming around either. As much as we all know that snakes are everywhere, we would even see them in our neighborhood in Keller, it is still scary to think they are really that close.
Snakes are one of my biggest fears in life. Yuck. That is why I am so hesitant to move out to the country....even though Kevin wants to so bad.
ReplyDeleteYes, we can do a playdate soon. We have a pretty full schedule this next week. Maybe the week after? Let me know! :)
